Statement: Seventh-day Adventist Church in Victoria bushfire updates #3

Nunawading, Victoria
Wayne Stanley

Residents of Warburton and its surrounds are on high alert for the next 24 hours, as authorities warn of extreme fire risk.

Signs Publishing Company has closed and Adventcare Yarra Ranges has been evacuated.

While many members have chosen to evacuate, there are some who are staying to fight, and we ask that you remember them in your prayers.

Pastor Araya-Bishop tells us that Lilydale Adventist Academy has again made itself available for emergency accommodation, and those leaving the region needing somewhere to stay, are welcome. The coordinator at the Academy says some have already arrived, and more are expected to come later in the day. At the moment, everyone is well cared for, as they have been able to bring their own supplies with them.

Anyone wishing to help the Academy should the need arise, may do so by registering with Kara Dale at the Victorian Conference Office, on (03) 9264 7777. Kara will liaise with the coordinator at the Accademy.

The Lilydale Adventist church has been made available to Warburton church members, should the need arise for a base where they can stop, rest and regroup. In addition, a registry has been made of church members willing to be of assistance in the case of emergency.

Should you wish to add your name to the list, you may do so by phoning Darren Croft on (03) 9726 9471 and leaving a message, or emailing him, leaving your name, contact details, what you can offer by way of assistance, and when you are available to assist.
