Solomon Star News, Solomon Islands - 25 August 2009

Twenty-seven couples from the Seventh-day Adventist Church who have already signed legal marriage certificate at the Central Magistrate in Honiara received a dedication service at the Lau valley Church.

Speaking at the marriage dedication, the President of Solomon Islands Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pastor Andrew Kingston told the couples that in any marriage the following must be present - leave the father and mother, cling together and stay as one flesh.

The challenge put across to the couples in order to find a right partner is that it is the individual's choice to be the right one themselves.

A company started by Manukau pupils has taken the people's choice award at the Auckland Regional Trade Fair. PHATSO, the company from Auckland Seventh-day Adventist High School in Mangere, was voted the best stand and product idea.

Parents Homework Application Teachers Students Online (PHATSO) is a homework stations application using Facebook to allow teachers, students and parents to connect, manage and communicate about homework and assessments.


Northern Rivers Echo, Australia - 3 September 2009

Lismore woman Cheryl Gardiner has had a hard life. With two sons' death and her three collapsed marriages, Cheryl has known the dark depths of the soul. But it was, as she says in her book With Eyes Wide Open, all part of God's plan for her.

The book describes her life journey. She writes of the challenges set before her and her eventual understanding of God's role in her life. Proceeds from the sale of the book go to assisting special needs students.

ADRA (Adventist Development and Relief Agency) wishes to thank the people of Gladstone who donated during their recent Door Knock Appeal.

Only those who work at the front line administering medicine or giving food, water and shelter can really appreciate the gratitude shown be people in need.
Helping to make people self sufficient is an aim of ADRA.

Swan Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church will host a Seniors Health Expo next week as part of Stay on Your Feet Week. It was one of 69 Western Australian community organisations to receive funding from the Department of Health and the Injury Control Council of WA.

Stay on Your Feet aims to raise awareness that falls are preventable and not an inevitable consequence of aging. The free seminar will address topics such as medicine management, podiatry, continence and health eating.

Lakes Mail Morisset, Australia - 10 September 2009

Cooranbong's Avondale College is another step closer to achieving university status with three staff members having earned new academic titles for their contribution to research, an area of college activity hallmarked for development.

Drs Kevin de Berg, Rob McIver and Daniel Reynaud have become the college's first associate professors after a six-member panel that included two academics at an associate and a professor level at Australian universities approved their application.
