Long-time Papua New Guinea missionary Thelma Silva will discuss the country's battles with AIDS and domestic violence at next Friday's World Day of Prayer celebrations in Mossman.

"Her stories are heart-warming and absolutely fascinating," said organiser Joy Cornell from the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Brightwaters senior Bob Geelan, aged 71, says age is no barrier to becoming involved in Clean-Up Australia Day on Sunday.

A member of the Dora Creek Seventh-day Adventist Church, Mr Geelan has organised the local Clean-Up efforts for the past six years.

More than three million people worldwide will be praying and worshipping together during an annual day of prayer, using a service prepared by Christian in Papua New Guinea.

Churches involved include the Uniting Churches and the Seventh-day Adventist Churches. This year the event will be held at the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
