The tiny town of Gwabegar might only have a post office and community hall to many but coordinator Kevin Simmons knows every year when the StormCo Kids Club hit town, children of the area become "happy little vegemites".
StormCo (Service To Others Really Matters Company) made its 10th trip to Gwabegar between July 11 and 18 and it was reported to be one of the best ever. The team was made up of a group of 20 students from Avondale College in Cooranbong, NSW.

ADRA is appealing to the public to make a tax deductible donation in support of their programs. According to organiser and local Seventh-day Adventist Church representative, David Entermann, ADRA is a leading non-governmental aid agency.
"We all know that times are tough, but even more so for the world's poorest. This appeal is an opportunity to remind ourselves of our relative affluence," he said.
ADRA Australia's Doorknock Appeal will happen throughout August.

Excited school pupils couldn't wait to get their hero's signature when Dan Carter paid a visit to Christchurch Adventist School last week, some stripping off their uniform ties for him to sign. The special visit was the school's prize for last year's annual Canteen Bandanna Challenge, the cancer support groups' annual major fundraiser.
Canteen ambassador Dan Carter took time out to answer the hard questions from school pupils including a request for "fit bit tips" and "Who's your best friend when on tour with the All Black?" "Joe Rokococo" was the answer to the latter question and "train hard for your sport" was the answer to the first.

Twelve teenagers had the opportunity to put their feelings into photos last week - with expert tuition along the way. Aaron Bellete, a casual lecturer at Avondale College, held free workshops on digital photography, Photoshop and other digital image manipulation software.
Local young people were invited to take photographs about what they like about living in the Dungog Shire and what can be improved. Youth workers and other community members hope that from these images they can understand what it is like to live in Dungog as a young person, and how they can improve it.

The crystal clear tones of a lyric soprano soared through Caboolture News office and lifted our spirits high. The notes were pure and clear and the words were her own.
Long-haired Jackie Ward, 18, was entertaining the newsroom with one of her favourite pieces - "Invincible" - written herself with the words dedicated to her creator - God.
Jackie is unashamedly devoted to her God, her music and her family, the Seventh-day Adventist Church and her friends. The words of the song talk about her amazing relationship with her creator and how prayers are always answered.
Has your church or someone from it been in the news? Let us know!
