Bairnsdale Advertiser, Australia – 9 October 2009
After three years of operation as a fundraiser for the local community and ADRA, the Opportunity Centre, thanks to a dedicated team of workers, has proved to be a highly successful venture.
The Opportunity Centre sells high quality office and household furniture, which has been donated or bought, allowing funds raised to be channelled through such organisations as Bairnsdale Neighbourhood House, Lakes Community Health and Red Cross.

During the second week of October school holidays, the Moora Seventh-day Adventist Church ran a Happy Holiday Club program for the 13th consecutive year.
Over the week, 100 different children attended with an average of 60 each day. The program included singing, puppets, bible stories, crafts and a nature segment where an animal or plants were shown.

Horsham Adventist Development and Relief Agency is conducting a doorknock appeal this month to raise funds for relief efforts in countries such as Samoa and Indonesia.
Agency co-ordinator John Ladlow said the appeal would run until November 8, and a roadside collection would occur. “Adventist Development and Relief Agency Australia supports a variety of community development and emergency management initiatives in Australia, the Pacific, Asia and Africa.

Fulton College in Tailevu is having their first ever open day over the weekend. It is open to students from various schools to see what Fulton has to offer and to learn of their expectations if they decide to enrol in the coming year.
Fulton principal Joseph Pitakia said it would be an excellent opportunity for secondary school students and members of the community to come and witness the spirit the Fulton family shared every year.

Dandenong’s Seventh-day Adventist Church will welcome in the kids and families during Children’s Week.
The church will hold a special kids and families day at 100 James St. “We are going to have all sorts of activities, from jumping castles and animals, with face painting, music, food, games and movies – all sorts of things for the kids.

It might not be Live Aid, but organisers of an Ipswich charity concert to raise money for victims of the Samoan tsunami are confident of a massive turnout.
Keepin’ it Real Outreach Ministry director and concert organiser, Stacey Aunei, said the September 30 tsunami was still affecting her fellow Samoan community members.
All funds raised will be donated to the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA). There will be no admission fee but concertgoers will be encouraged to donate to the cause, with a number of auctions also planned to help raise funds.
