They came armed with gloves and garbage bags to do battle with litter strewn across the city.

Maitland Seventh-day Adventist Church's Adventurers, aged between three and nine, were rearing to go early yesterday to clean up Green Hills Park behind East Maitland Library.


Caboolture News, Australia - 4 March 2009

Caboolture Seventh-day Adventist Church had 25 participants made up of the Caboolture youth, teens and one senior.

Eleven of them shaved their heads, four waxed legs/chest and 11 dyed or crazied their hair.

This year vegetarian demonstrations and taste testing were part of the free health assessments conducted at the recent Stanthorpe Show.

Burnie Advocate, Australia - 5 March 2009

If they stopped to think, they'd break down in tears. Rescuers saved the last stranded whale at Naracoopa Beach yesterday morning, to the delight of 150 volunteers and conservation workers that struggled to save more than 54 pilot whales and five bottlenose dolphins.

"We went over with the Seventh-day Adventist Church group, basically to the King Island show, we had a group of seven, to do some repairs on the church... and visit with some of the older members.

Hurstville City Council, Australia - 11 March 2009

Mayor of Hurstville, Cr Vince Badalati had congratulated the local community for helping to keep the City of Hurstville rubbish-free on 2009 clean Up Australia Day.

"Environmentally-minded Lugarno Public School and Hurstville Adventist School students also did their bit to enhance the local environment on Schools Clean Up Day," he said.

If there ever was a stereotype for ministers, then Tamworth's newest pastor, James Venegas, seems to have broken out of it.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church is best known for the fact that it meets on Saturdays, not Sundays.

It is a welcoming church which value the bible highly and abound with community programs, such as a weekly kids' club, Pathfinders youth group, health breakfasts and a vibrant, bible centred worship service every Saturday.
