Year 12 students ‘dare' others

A group of Year 12 students have ‘dared' other final year students in their region of New South Wales, to do something different for their ‘schoolies' week.

The Avondale School students are going to help out at an orphanage in Cambodia, as an alternative ‘schoolies' adventure.

Schoolies week is an Australian tradition where high-school graduates celebrate following the end of their final exams in late November and early December.

In recent years, however, binge drinking, poor behaviour and violence has threatened the safety of participants, many of whom gather at coastal locations in Queensland.
