Book explores Trinity in Adventist belief

Wahroonga, New South Wales

A new book by a retired Adventist pastor addresses questions about Adventist beliefs regarding the nature of God. The Trinity Doctrine for Seventh-day Adventists by Pastor Max Hatton has been launched as an electronic book on CD by the Office of the Field Secretary for the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the South Pacific.

"Max Hatton writes with the personal and pastoral experience of meeting Jehovah's Witnesses and with many years of study," says Dr Paul Petersen, field secretary for the Adventist Church in the South Pacific. "His voice is significant in the continuing discussion of the Trinity in the Adventist church."

Pastor Hatton is now retired in Cooranbong (NSW) but in his retirement has cared for a number of churches around Australia, as well as teaching at Avondale College and presenting seminars on the doctrine of the Trinity.

"Although this subject may sound rather daunting, complicated and beyond the understanding of ordinary people, it is not," says Pastor Hatton. "And this book is written by an ordinary person for ordinary people."

Pastor Hatton's earlier book Understanding the Trinity considered the topic from a biblical perspective. Now The Trinity Doctrine for Seventh-day Adventists broaden the discussion to explore aspects of the doctrine in Adventist history and the writings of Ellen White, pioneer of the Adventist Church.
