Seven motorbikes, paid for through funds raised by retired Adventist church pastor David Lawson, were recently handed over to the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Vanuatu at the Asco Motors showroom in Port Vila.

Pastor Lawson, who has spent the past three years raising funds to pay for motorbikes to be used by pastors and administrators in remote areas around the South Pacific, travelled to Vanuatu for the handover.

A prayer of dedication was offered at the handover and those present asked God to accept the gift of the motorbikes to be used for the advancement of the gospel in Vanuatu.

Pastor John Leeman, president of the Adventist Church in Vanuatu, says, "While the bikes will be owned by the church, they will be loaned to six district pastors and one high school principal. This will enable these men to cover more territory, make more visits, and serve their churches and schools more effectively."

These seven motorbikes bring the total to 50 distributed so far, at a cost in excess of $A200,000. The Adventist Church in South Queensland contributed 50 per cent of the cost of the seven motorbikes as their first project in the "Partners in mission" program, in which they are linked to the Vanuatu Mission.
