The Honourable Roger Price, chief Australian federal government whip and representative for the seat of Chifley, and Mountain View Adventist College (MVAC) principal Jenny Gibbons officially opened the MVAC Middle School building in August.

Delegates and guests at the official opening of MVAC Middle School
Although MVAC Middle School has been operational for a few years through necessity, MVAC officially celebrated the completion of the new wing in a ceremony on August 28. Attending the presentation were students and staff members, as well as representatives of the Greater Sydney Conference (GSC) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, including president Pastor David Blanch; Graeme Drinkall, chief financial officer; and Dr Peter Kilgour, executive director of Adventist Education. Fabian Carrasco, head of middle school, was also in attendance.
Mrs Gibbons extended her thanks to Mr Price on behalf of the college for the funds the government has made available to schools and colleges throughout Australia. She also took the opportunity to thank GSC for their contribution, support and ongoing funding of the school.
The guests at the official opening were treated to musical items presented by students and staff. Susan James, MVAC's music teacher, sang "How great Thou art" and three young MVAC students performed an item they had composed.
The items were followed by comments from Pastor Blanch and Mr Drinkall. The plaque commemorating the day was then unveiled by Mr Price and Mrs Gibbons, with college chaplain Pastor Jean-Pierre Martinez closing proceedings with prayer.
