63 people have been baptised into the Laiakum Seventh-day Adventist church on 25 April, at the end of a week long evangelistic meeting in the Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea.
The baptism is believed to be the largest event conducted by a local Adventist church in the country.
Among those baptised were a Luthern church pastor and tribal warriors. During the event, a community councillor praised the Adventist Church for bringing peace to his community with the help of God's Word.
More than 2000 people attended the nightly evangelistic meeting in April, conducted by Elder Roger Kuk.
On the same day, 150 young people were also invested into Pathfinder and Adventurer clubs.
More than 130 people have requested for baptism following the event. Laiakum Adventist church, which seats up to 400, is now planning to build a new church to seat more than 1000.
