Statement: Signs Publishing Company reopens
Warburton, Victoria
Record staff
After being closed for two days because of the fire threat in the Warburton area, Signs Publishing Company-the Warburton campus of Adventist Media Network-returned to work yesterday. Bush fires came within four kilometres of the Warburton township on Monday evening, before a change in weather conditions and continuing cooler weather reduced the fire threat.
The disruption of operations at Signs will mean some churches in Australia and New Zealand may not receive the March 7 issue of Record by that weekend. "We anticipate that most Record secretaries will simply receive their supply of Records later in the week than usual but still in time for March 7," says Record editor, Nathan Brown. "But some of those churches that are most distant from Melbourne may have a week without Record, although should then have two issues to catch up on the following Sabbath.
"We apologise for this potential delay but are sure people will be understanding in the circumstances."
The pdf version of the March 7 issue of Record will still be available for download online without any interruption.
The staff of Signs appreciate the many expressions of concern and the prayers that have been offered on their behalf by church members around the South Pacific. "This is a continuing situation," says Mr Brown, "and tomorrow-Friday-is another day of risk, so it is encouraging to know we have this kind of support."
