Retired Adventist church pastor David Lawson has launched a website <www.lawsondiscovery.com> in order to further promote his project to purchase motorbikes for church pastors in the Pacific Islands.

The website features books written by Pastor Lawson, and CDs and DVDs containing sermons and scenic photos. According to Pastor Lawson, "The proceeds from the sales on this website are used, along with donations from sponsors, for a special project that benefits the spread of the gospel in the South Pacific Islands."

Pastor Lawson has been fundraising to pay for motorbikes to be used by pastors and administrators in remote areas around the South Pacific Division since 2006, after a visit to the Papua New Guinea (PNG) Highlands.

"I talked with a number of our pastors, seeking to find their greatest needs to help improve their efficiency and outreach. The most common answer was the need for some form of transport," he says. "Most of them had 20 to 50 churches under their care. While some had personal transport, the majority relied on public motor vehicles that were not reliable and sometimes not very safe. Many of the pastors just walked."

There are now 53 motorbikes being used in PNG and Vanuatu, and Pastor Lawson says he now has enough funds to purchase another 11.

"One pastor recently wrote to thank me for the motorbike. He has 26 churches and was able to visit them twice a year," says Pastor Lawson. "Now he uses the bike to visit five churches every Sabbath, preaching five times. His churches see him every five weeks instead of 26."
